Bob Books Set 1: Beginning ReadersTeach a child letter sounds with Bob Books Set 1! With four letters in the first story, children can read a whole book. Consistent new sounds are added gradually, until young readers have read books with all letters of the alphabet (except Q). Short vowels and three-letter words in simple sentences make Bob Books Set 1 a fun confidence builder. With little books, come big success. (TM)

What Customers Say About Bob Books, Set 1: Beginning Readers:

I thought i could use them to teach him his letters and sounds, and then we would work on reading. He liked that. I tried a couple of different approaches but they simply didn't work with him. He would say that he was stupid because his brain could not hold things in his head.

Hiskes to teach him reading skills. But the most important thing to me is that he is enjoying it and has confidence. When Kindergarten was over he still did not know all of his letters and the corresponding sound that they make. (At the beginning of each book it shows the 1 to 4 new letters it teaches in that book. As i started reading he started to parrot me.

I used these books and Phonics Pathways by Dolores G. A homeschooling friend recommended these books. That book only uses the letters it is teaching or ones previously taught, in addition to sight words, to create the words and story for the kids to read). In my experience, with love and support and tutoring, they eventually learn to read.

My son went to Pre-K and Kindergarten at public school. He was soon sounding out words that he could not name the letters of. Then, with reviewing the letters and sounds on the first page, he learned his letters and their sounds. He is now reading. I could tell he was frustrated with the very idea of reading. But they often think they are stupid or avoid it like a disease. The teachers were telling me that he could not move forward and learn to spell words or read until he knew his letters.

My son now knows that he can succeed and enjoys the process. My son did not want to read the books himself when i first got them. I told him I would read them to him. I have seen children struggle to learn to read over the years. It doesn't get much better than that.

They are great confidence builders because of the smaller words but it helps her to recognize sounds in other books. These books were recommended by my daughters reading teacher. WE are looking forward to moving on to the next set this summer. She needed extra help for reading and I wasn't sure how to do it. Her teacher used the Bob books and even sent some home for the kids to work on. I also like how they store in a small box so I don't have little books all over. I also like how I can tell her to pick books from the blue box to practice with.

Based on both phonics and word recognition, this is an excellent learning program. My 4 year old granddaughter loves the BOB Books Set 1. She already knows the ABCs and enjoys sounding out the words. The short books match a 4 year old's attention span, the stories are full of humor, and the pictures on the page can be colored in as she progresses (a pre-writing skill). The books also provide ample opportunity for her parents and grandparents to share the fun of reading with her.

I never thought I would have to tell her " no we read enough tonight" but she consistantly wants to keep reading, "another one mom". Faboulous product. It was torture trying to get my daughter to focus on reading but when we got the bob books she could not put them down. The books were here within a couple of days and in perfect condition. I will use this company again to purchase more bob books.

When I told my 5 year old that I bought her some books for her to read to me, she automatically told me she couldn't read a book. After some prodding and my daughter read her first BOB book, the sense of pride that came over her was amazing. She was beaming and wanted to read more. I use this set to supplement with the reading program "How to Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons."
